The Northern Territory is often referred to as Australia’s last frontier and for good reason. The Top End as it is commonly known in Australia is the country’s third largest (over 1.3 million square kilometres) and most sparsely populated federal division. Simply known as ‘The Territory’ to the locals, it is a place of spectacular contrast and vast seasonal changes from the Central Desert region in the South of the Territory to the Tropical Northern coast the Territory has perhaps the most spectacular natural landscapes in Australia if not the world. Helicopter  Flights are available at or near almost all of these places. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is probably further from the beaten track than any other attraction in Australia.

However if there is one ‘must see’ in this huge country it has to be Uluru at sunset and sunrise….and any time in between for that matter. This great monolith is one of the world’s great natural wonders and holds huge spiritual meaning for the Aboriginal owners, not far from ‘The Rock’ is Kata Tjuta (The Olgas),  another area of rock formations dating back 500 million years.

Taking Helicopter Flights from Uluru you will get to appreciate these two phenomenon’s from a bird’s eye view, you can see as far as your eyes allow in any direction with the only landmarks of any real standing being these huge monolith’s. When temperatures allow -or upon your request in the cooler months-have the doors of the Helicopter removed to enhance the thrill of flying over this vast landscape. There are also Helicopter Flight operators at Kings Canyon another truly impressive natural creation but instead of the landscape around being eroded away like Uluru  and Kata Tjuta erosion here has created huge canyon systems hundreds of feet deep.

Back at Alice Springs take a sunset flight laced with champagne, check out the McDonnell ranges and the short but fascinating European history for the area.

Further north where the Tropical rains reach further inland  are the beautiful gorges of  Nitmulik National Park, the world famous Katherine Gorge is just one of thirteen gorges in the park, each filled with spectacular waterfalls followed by luxurious swimming holes. Take a Helicopter Flight over the most scenic parts with your knowledgeable local pilot pointing out places of Cultural interest along the way.
